The 10-Second Trick to Supercharge Your Results

Tons of effort into ideas? Here's one step even the best of us often skip...

Bottom Line Up Front

Ever had a great idea and implemented it or passed it to your team?

Hopefully the answer is yes…

Have you had a great idea, implemented it, and then never tracked the output?

Yes, I have some ideas and methods to improve this - tracking your output and results can be a huge win. Let’s get into it.

My inbox is open. As always, you can send feedback by hitting reply.

Why This Matters

Why not just get things done and move on to the next idea?

If you have a large team and someone is tracking outputs and results, great. But for the rest of us, we need to focus our time and attention where it will get results.

If I’m unsure about the results of my changes, tests, or ideas, I could be going down rabbit holes, which I don't want.

If you’re tracking results, focus on the winners to improve results.

Examples?

Split testing a landing page for a product or service.

Introducing a new or improved onboarding process for employees.

How can we track results without overwhelming administrative overhead?

Tracking Results For…Better Results

Good news, it can be simple.

I mean it.

Yesterday I was about to finish delegating an email to be added to a client’s account - something new to boost engagement and make the subscribers happy.

Right before I clicked submit, I realized I hadn’t added anything about tracking results.

I’m good at understanding email effectiveness, but you never know for sure. Always test and measure.

I added a note to gather the engagement rates after 60 days, compare them to the other emails, and report back via the ClickUp task.

That took 10 seconds.

It might not work well, so there will be a check to fix or remove it if there’s a problem. If it’s working well, I’ll know for sure and can implement it elsewhere.

Other ways to track results:

  • Setting your own reminder in your task app (Todoist, ClickUp, etc).

  • Add it to your calendar.

  • Delegate the checking via your task app.

  • Create a template in your task or project management app with a line about checking results. I might need to do this.

This is a fantastic use of technology to help you get better results.

To power it up, I would record results somewhere easily accessible for future reference.

I might create a Notion Database and add test results, a note about what was good or bad, helpful screenshots, and a tag or description.

I highly recommend giving this a shot with your next idea.

Extra Extra

  • I recently had a quote in the Monday email from Eleanor Roosevelt - “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”. As a believe in journaling on a regular basis, I took this prompt from Mark Manson and will be thinking about where I’ve allowed myself to feel inferior and why. How about you?

One quick question 👋

I love hearing from readers, and I’m always happy to hear feedback from active subscribers. How am I doing with the Productivity Academy newsletter? Is there any content you’d like to see more or less of? Which parts of the newsletter (or articles, or podcast) do you enjoy the most?

Hit reply and say hello, happy to hear from you!

That’s all for today, stay productive!
